Home » 2020 EBSA European Championships – Additional Places Awarded

There has been an update to the announcement we released a few weeks ago regarding selection for the upcoming 2020 EBSA European Amateur Snooker Championships in Portugal.

The European Billiards and Snooker Association have informed us that we have been given additional places for the Under-18, Under-21 and 6-Red Championships. They are as follows:

European Under-18 Championship: 6 places (increased from 4)

European Under-21 Championship: 6 places (increased from 4)

European 6-Red Championship: 6 places (increased from 4)

Including the original selection criteria we provided last month, below, we have information on how these additional places will be decided:

European Under-18 Championship – 6 Places

Paul Deaville – 2019 English Under-16 Champion (last season’s English under-18 champion and runner-up are both ineligible due to age)

Stanley Moody – highest eligible player from this season’s North Under-20 Regional Development Tour

Jack Haley – top of this season’s South Under-20 Regional Development Tour

Halim Hussain – top of this season’s Midlands Under-20 Regional Development Tour

The two additional places will be awarded to the two highest ranked eligible players on this season’s Under-21 Premier Development Tour following the completion of this weekend’s event four in Huddersfield.

*Should Paul Deaville finish as one of the two highest ranked eligible players, the next highest ranked eligible player will be selected.

European Under-21 Championship – 6 Places

Mark Lloyd – 2019 English Under-21 Champion

The top five ranked players from this season’s Under-21 Premier Development Tour following the completion of this weekend’s event four in Huddersfield. (This was originally the top three, but with the two additional places this is now the top five)

*Should Mark Lloyd finish as one of the five highest ranked players, the next highest ranked player will be selected.

European 6-Red Championship – 6 Places

Jenson Kendrick – 2019 English 6-Red Champion

Hamim Hussain – 2019 English 6-Red Runner-Up

Manasawin Phetmalaikul and Graham Beardmore – 2019 English 6-Red Semi-Finalists

The two additional places are to be decided. If you played in last season’s (2018/19) EASB 6-Red Championship and would like to be considered for a place, please email us on competitions@epsb.co.uk as soon as you can.

Following the completion of the 2019/2020 English Amateur Tour last weekend, our five spaces for the European Amateur Championship are now confirmed as:
