Scott Seals Junior Tour Title in Leicester

Home » Scott Seals Junior Tour Title in Leicester

O’Shay Scott beat Kaylan Patel 3-1 to win the second English Junior Tour title of the season at The Winchester Snooker Club in Leicester.

The 17-year-old is the second different winner of the campaign, following Vladislav Gradinari’s success in Leeds earlier this month, and rises to the top of the English Junior Tour ranking list after two events.

A total of 68 cueists contested the tournament with 60 of them competing on Saturday to join the eight seeds, which included Scott, on the final day.

Harry Goddard, Ethan Llewellyn, Westley Cooper, Kian Dennett, Jack Wilding and Yashani Parmar were among those to advance from the opening day as each secured qualification without the loss of a frame.

Among the seeds joing the action on Sunday was 17-year-old Edward Jones, who had gone on an incredible run in Sofia, Bulgaria just days earlier to reach the final of the second WPBSA Q Tour Europe – having never previously advanced beyond the last 64.

Jones, however, was unable to repeat that form in Leicester and fell at the quarter-final stage to Daniel Boyes – the same round that event one winner Gradinari lost out in a decider to Cooper.

After topping a tough group consisting of Patel, Llewellyn and Vincent Callendar, Scott defeated Jackson Pope (3-1) and Yashnai Parmar (3-1) to reach the semi-finals.

There he faced event one runner-up Boyes and, having lost the opener, Scott won three consecutive frames to set up a title match meeting with former WSF Junior Championship runner-up Patel.

Scott once again found himself trailing after losing the opener to Patel, but he quickly rallied to move one frame away from victory at 2-1 ahead.

The fourth frame was closely-contested and went all the way to the final black which Scott was eventually able to pot to secure the event two title in Leicester.

Event three of the English Junior Tour season takes place at the Landywood Snooker Club on 31 October-1 November 2-26. Enter now via WPBSA SnookerScores.
