English League Championship 2026 – Qualifier 1 | Tournament Information

The first qualifying event of the 2026 English League Championship takes place this weekend (4-5 April) at the Landywood Snooker Club.

Now into its third year, the 2026 English League Championship sees a revamped format with teams of three (plus one reserve) competing for a minimum total prize fund of £3,000. Learn more about the new format.

TEAMS

Nine teams will contest the first qualifying event with a minimum of four set to qualify for the finals weekend. Among the notable names involved are reigning World Women’s Seniors champion Tessa Davidson (Oxford Snooker League), former English Under-14’s champion Nicholas Ayers (Wednesfield) and all four players representing SWMBSA ‘B’ – who were each part of the title-winning team in last year’s event.

  • WSL Three Amigos (Phil Oakes, Lee Gordon, Jon Newton)
  • Warrington Woolston (Mark Leathem, Declan Cassidy, Kieran Cassidy, Scott Horobin)
  • WSL LA Grange (Patrick Wisedale, Brian Hall, Dean Griffiths)
  • Leeds (James Pears, Scott Clayforth, Isa Ishtiaq)
  • Oxford Snooker League (John Massey, Tessa Davidson, Tony Hicks)
  • SWMBSA ‘B’ (Bal Sembi, Raj Bashal, Adrian Rosa, Chris Jones)
  • Wednesfield (Oliver Spooner, Andrew Price, Nicholas Ayres)
  • Q Bar U21’s (Bobby Wilson, Archie Buskin, Toby Smith)

FORMAT & INFORMATION

  • The club will open at 10am on Saturday, with play to start at 10:30am
  • Teams will consist of three players, who will each play two frames per match.
  • If a match finishes 3-3, it will be decided by a tie-breaker (best of 3 respotted black, each team member to play one black if required)
  • A minimum of four teams will qualify for the final weekend on 13-14 June.
  • The dress code for the qualifying events is a polo shirt, formal trousers and formal shoes.
