Home » English League Snooker Championship Returns in 2027

The EPSB English League Championship will return to the Landywood Snooker Club in May 2027 for its fourth staging.

Teams of three players (plus two optional reserves, an increase of one from last season) are invited to enter one of the two qualifying weekends staged in May with the top achieving teams earning their places in the finals weekend.

Tournament Information

The provisional format for the event will be as follows:

  • A maximum of 32 teams will compete in group stages to qualify for the Grand Finals weekend
  • Each match will be played over six frames, with a point scored for each frame won. Should a match finish 3-3, a tie-breaker will be played to decide the winning team
  • A maximum of 16 teams will compete on a single weekend, with four matches on Saturday, followed by three on Sunday
  • Each team will be made up of three players, with a further two optional reserve players.
  • A maximum of one professional player will be eligible for each team, who will give an 18-points start when competing against an amateur. Should an amateur player turn professional during the event (e.g. Q School) and prior to the Grand Finals, they will be treated as a professional player from that point.
  • Where possible, teams from the same league will be drawn apart during the qualification stage

Staffordshire & West Midlands Billiards & Snooker Association (SWMBSA) ‘A’ are the reigning champions after the team, featuring non-playing captain Tom Burgess, Riley Parsons, Jack Harris and Daniel Ward, defeated Leeds ADT Two 4-3 in a dramatic respotted black ball finish in June.

First held in 2024, the prestigious Championship is aimed at all snooker leagues across the country and will provide fantastic weekends of snooker, with camaraderie and fun combined with a significant prize fund to be won across the event.
