Home » EPSB Open Series Playoff – Date and Venue Announced

The Tradewell Snooker Club will generously sponsor and host an end-of-season 16-player EPSB Open Series Playoff event on Saturday 22nd April where the winner will secure a free 2023 Q School ticket.

The popular venue in Hull has been an integral part of the EPSB Open Series since its creation in Autumn 2021 having held a plethora of regular and busy events.

A total of 350 players have already entered this season’s Open Series which has featured several existing and new host venues up and down the country. The Series is open to all, regardless of age, playing or membership status, or nationality. Please visit here for full information.

At the time of writing, Hamim Hussain is having an incredible season on the Series; the 21-year-old has already won five events this campaign, and sits top of the rankings with a very healthy lead over second-placed Daniel Womersley. Ryan Davies – last season’s number one – is currently third. The 2022/23 EPSB Open Series rankings can be viewed here.

Format

The regular EPSB Open Series season will finish in March, with the final events scheduled to be on Sunday 26th March at Tradewell and Breakers Snooker Club in Leicester.

Following the completion of these events, the number one ranked player will automatically win a free 2023 Q School place.

The next 16 ranked players will all be invited to the Tradewell sponsored playoff on April 22. These players will be contacted via email, who will in turn need to confirm their attendance.

Should a player not be eligible* for the playoff, or be unable to attend/decline the invite, the next eligible player in line on the ranking list will be invited.

*Please note, if a player has a guaranteed WST Professional Tour Card for the 2023/24 season, they will not be eligible for the playoff event.

Once the line-up has been confirmed, the players will be seeded as per their ranking positions, and the draw will be fixed with 1 v 16 at the top and 2 v 15 at the bottom of the draw etc.

Should a player withdraw after the draw has been published, if there is suitable time, the next eligible player in line will be invited and replace the player who has withdrawn.

The playoff will be completed on one day, with all matches the best of five frames. The winner will secure a free 2023 Q School place.

Further details will be sent to the qualified players via email.

With several regular EPSB Open Series events still to take place, the race for the playoffs is likely to be a very exciting one!

The EPSB would like to say a huge thank you to the Tradewell Snooker Club for sponsoring the playoff, and to all the host venues and tournament directors who have been a part of this season’s Series.
