Home » EPSB to Host Women’s Snooker Open Day!

An all-new Women’s Snooker Open Day is set to take place this November and aims to remove barriers and raise the visibility of women’s snooker in England!

Organised by snooker’s national governing body the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB), in association with Italian-based global jewellery brand Nomination Italy and leading independent jeweller T.H.Baker, the landmark day will take place at the Landywood Snooker Club on Saturday 15 November with the goal of encouraging female participation in our sport.

Aimed at both experienced players, or people who have never picked up a cue before – the fun day is open to women and girls of all levels of experience and ability to come and try snooker.

The day will run from approximately 10:00am – 5:00pm with a special entry fee of just £5.

A wide range of activities will include:

  • Coaching – Take your first steps into cue sports and learn beginner tips from WPBSA Snooker Coaches including Tessa Davidson, Rebecca Kenna, Zoe Killington and more
  • Inspiration – Hear from BBC Snooker presenter Shabnam Younus-Jewell, who regularly enjoys playing snooker both competitively and recreationally
  • Social – Meet and mingle with current female players who form part of the women’s snooker family at competitions in the UK and beyond
  • Challenges and Games – Put the lessons into practice with a fun and informal challenge competition, with the support and encouragement of our coaching team
  • Goodie bags – Everyone will receive a special goodie bag including sought-after gifts provided by Nomination Italy to remember the day by

“Give it a Go!”

Mandy Fisher, EPSB Women’s Inclusion Director said: “We are today delighted to be able to announce our first ever EPSB Women’s Snooker Open Day this November.

“I would like to thank our event partners Nomination Italy and our hosts at the Landywood Snooker Club for their fantastic support and help in providing this opportunity for female players to participate in our sport.

“We are enjoying a real growth period of women’s snooker with new talent emerging from around the world, but it also remains vitally important in England that we can encourage women and girls to pick up a cue and try snooker for the first time.

“Snooker is among the most inclusive of all sports – over 45 years have passed since I began to play myself and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made, leading to an incredible journey alongside some fantastic women from around the world.

“The open day promises to be a special occasion for women’s snooker and I would encourage anyone to come along and give it a go. You might be nervous about competing against other players, think you might not be good enough, or even have never picked up a cue before – but everyone will be welcomed, regardless of experience.”
