Lines Lifts English Amateur Tour Title in Leeds

Home » Lines Lifts English Amateur Tour Title in Leeds

Peter Lines defeated Allan Taylor 4-0 to win the second English Amateur Tour event of the season at the Northern Snooker Centre in Leeds.

Lines, who also reached the final of the first event before losing out to Sanderson Lam, won through a field of 85 cueists in West Yorkshire to win the title and move to the top of the English Amateur Tour ranking list.

It was a tough start for 56-year-old, who trailed fellow former professional Harvey Chandler 3-2 in the last 64 before forcing a decider by taking the sixth by a 67-66 scoreline.

After winning that decisive seventh frame, Lines then whitewashed 17-year-old Harry Goddard with a top break of 103 – one of seven century breaks compiled across the weekend which raised money for The Brain Tumour Charity, the official charity partner of the EPSB during the 2026/27 campaign.

This victory had seen Lines earn his place in a final day that began with Ryan Davies ending the 10-match unbeaten streak of event one winner Lam on the English Amateur Tour.

Davies would himself fall in the next round to Simon Bedford, who Lines subsequently defeated in a decider to reach the title match – having earlier beaten O’Shay Scott (4-1) and James Lee (4-2) to reach the last four.

Awaiting him in the final was Taylor, who had whitewashed Matthew Glasby in the semi-finals to earn a last round meeting with Lines.

Lines was in dominant form at the vital moment as he kicked off the final with a contribution of 86 and rounded off the title win with a break of 74 in the fourth to comfortably secure the title.

Event three of the English Amateur Tour takes place at Unit 27 in Weston Super Mare on 7-8 November. Enter now via WPBSA SnookerScores.
