The finest student snooker players from across the United Kingdom will embark on the Woking Snooker Centre from 14-17 March for the BUCS-UPC Snooker Championships.

The event is run by the Universities Pool Council (UPC), the recognised governing body for higher education cue sports by British Universities and Colleges Sport, who were announced as an affiliate of the EPSB in February 2020 as part of a wider initiative led by the WPBSA to encourage more young people to play snooker.

Both Individual and Team events will take place across the four-day event. Last year’s championships saw 175 players from 28 different universities competing, with the University of Bristol winning the team title while University of Manchester’s Matei Rosca secured individual glory. This year’s event will once again boast a strong line-up with 32 teams and 179 players taking part in the respective championships.

Ben Hubbard, Executive Chair of the UPC, said “We are extremely excited for the upcoming BUCS-UPC Snooker Championships. Last year’s event was a great success, with a large number of entrants from a wide-range of institutions from across the country taking part. We would like to thank the Woking Snooker Centre for once again hosting the tournament and we look forward to seeing everyone in March.”
