EPSB Partners with The Brain Tumour Charity to Support Breakthrough Research

The English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB), the national governing body for snooker and billiards in England, has today announced The Brain Tumour Charity as its first-ever official charity partner.

The partnership will cover at least the period of the 2026/27 season and will see the EPSB provide support to The Brain Tumour Charity, which is committed to providing high quality and trustworthy health and care information to support anyone affected by a brain tumour.

The EPSB plans to support the charity through the staging of an all-new annual charity tournament to be held in 2027, as well as further ongoing initiatives to be announced in due course. There will also be signage placed at tournament venues to make it as easy as possible for people to make donations and contribute to the total amount raised during the season.

The Brain Tumour Charity has been selected in memory of former England international player Graham Beardmore, who sadly passed away last July after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Last November, his wife Aby took part in the first-ever EPSB Women’s Open Day held at the Landywood Snooker Club in memory of Graham.

Matt Huart, EPSB CEO said: “We are delighted with today’s announcement and to be able to support the incredible work carried out by The Brain Tumour Charity across the UK and beyond.

“Graham Beardmore was a much-loved player who competed at EPSB Seniors Tour events for many years and had qualified to represent England at last year’s Home Internationals, prior to his passing.

“It was therefore an easy decision to be able to honour his memory in this way and I would like to thank Laura and her team at The Brain Tumour Charity for working with us to make this happen.”

Laura Benge, Community Fundraiser at The Brain Tumour Charity said: “We are delighted to have been chosen as the EPSB’s first official charity, and we’re excited to grow the partnership together to raise funds and awareness.”

“Raising money and awareness for this disease is exactly what Gra suggested two years ago, and I’m so grateful to those who have helped bring this partnership to fruition.

“Snooker is an amazing sport and was Gra’s sport, his second family! Just two days after his brain surgery he was back on a snooker table!

“Gra’s passion and dedication to the sport also drew me to fall in love with snooker.  And I know this announcement will be fully supported by family and friends on and off the baize and I look forward to all that is to come.”

The Brain Tumour Charity is the UK’s largest dedicated funder of research into primary brain tumours. It also offers support and information to anyone affected by a diagnosis and campaigns for faster, better diagnosis so that everyone can have the best quality of life beyond treatment.
