Staffordshire & West Midlands Billiards & Snooker Association (SWMBSA) ‘A’ defeated Leeds ADT Two 4-3 in a dramatic black ball shootout to win the English League Snooker Championship for a second successive year.
Non-playing captain Tom Burgess, Riley Parsons and Jack Harris from the 2025 title-winning side were joined by newcomer Daniel Ward to defend their title at the Landywood Snooker Club.
Now into its third year, the 2026 English League Championship featured a revamped format with smaller teams competing for a minimum total prize fund of £3,000.

Following two qualifying weekends, a total of 14 teams qualified for the finals weekend which took place across 13-14 June in South Staffordshire.
SWMBSA ‘A’ had topped their qualification group last month and five victories in the group stage were enough to see them advance to the quarter-finals last weekend.

Back-to-back whitewash 4-0 wins over Wednesfield and Leeds saw SWMBSA ‘A’ book their place in the final where they would face a Leeds ADT Two team featuring Lewis Harper, Daniel Boyes and Stephen Broadhead.
A break of 59 helped Parsons to open up a 2-0 lead for SWMBSA ‘A’ as he overcame Harper, but former English Under-18 champion Boyes restored parity for Leeds ADT Two at 2-2 by getting the better of Ward.

In third match-up, Harris took the first frame from Broadhead to put SWMBSA ‘A’ one away from victory before his opponent forced a black ball shootout by winning frame six on the last black.
In the best-of-three black ball shootout, Harper took the first for Leeds ADT Two but his side were unable to capitalise and get over the line as Harris potted the decisive black to take the title.
