Staffordshire & West Midlands Billiards & Snooker Association (SWMBSA) ‘A’ defeated SWMBSA ‘B’ 3-1 to win the 2025 English League Snooker Championship at the Landywood Snooker Club.

The team who consisted of non-playing captain Tom Burgess, Andy Tapper, Riley Parsons, Bal Sembi, Jack Harris, Adrian Rosa, Chris Jones and Raj Bashal performed excellently across the finals weekend in Walsall to become the second winners of the prestigious new national championship.

Rosa, a former professional, also fired in the weekend’s high break with a contribution of 112 during the competition.

The second staging of the English League Snooker Championship, sponsored by On The Go Traffic Management, was held at the Landywood Snooker Club in Walsall across three weekends of action – two qualifiers followed by last weekend’s concluding stage.

SWMBSA ‘A’ had qualified for this stage after finishing first during the opening qualifier back in April.

A total of eight teams battled it out for glory on the finals weekend and it was SWMBSA ‘A’ who topped the initial group phase while their league counterparts SWMBSA ‘B’ finished second and LBSO Absolute Dream Team and Walmley completed the top half.

The eventual champions whitewashed Wednesfield in the quarter-finals before battling through a dramatic deciding frame against Walmley to reach the title match.

An all-SWMBSA final was confirmed after the ‘B’ team featuring notable names including Paul Deaville and Callum Downing overcame Hull MASL and Gloucester in the knockout stages.

In the decisive contest at the Landywood Snooker Club, SWMBSA ‘A’ showed their quality to secure a 3-1 victory and become the second ever champions of the English League Snooker Championship.

EPSB would like to congratulate SWMBSA ‘A’ and thank all the players, officials and everyone at the Landywood Snooker Club for ensuring the 2025 English League Snooker Championship was a success.
